Oljato, for example, is also within the area designated as Monument Valley.. Visitors may pay an access fee and drive through the park on a mile (27 km) dirt road (a hour trip).

4. Jun 20,  · This appears to have been shot north of Monument Valley off Route on the way to Mexican Hat. It was fun finding these places. It also gave me more appreciation for the genius of John Ford. John Wayne was in three movies that were filmed in Monument Valley – The Searchers, Stagecoach, and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon.

When filming in the valley the director and his leading actors always stayed at Goulding’s Lodge. Today, an old stagecoach is on handsome display outside the museum.
